Resistance of firefighters tested in labyrinth

The psychological resistance of firefighters and rescuers in conditions of darkness and smoke and in narrow spaces is to tested in a construction that has the form of a labyrinth. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service on December 10 launches training sessions that in the future will be held at the National Training Center.

Contacted by IPN, the Service’s press officer Diana Turcan said the construction was brought from Italy as a result of the cooperation between the two states and was placed at the National Training Center. “Besides physical fitness, the firefighters and rescuers need also psychological resistance when they intervene in emergencies in different spaces,” stated Diana Turcan.

Thus, the firefighters, both those who entered recently the system and those who already work, besides training and refresher courses, will go through the so-called labyrinth. The firemen will make their way through narrow and long passages in conditions of smoke, darkness and high temperatures so as to improve capacities to intervene in emergencies.
