The guests and residents of Chisinau could remain this year without the traditional Christmas fair and the skating rink set up in the center of the city for the period of the winter holidays. The local authorities said that if the protesters do not vacate the Great National Assembly Square, it will be impossible to put up temporary stands or recreational facilities there, IPN reports.
In the December 7 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said that most probably the traditional fairs will be staged only in the districts of the capital city. However, if economic entities request, a fair could be set up downtown too, most probably on the pedestrian street.
As to the skating rink that has been placed in the central square of Chisinau for many years, this could be set up only if the protesters free the square, given that the skating rink occupies a rather large area.
Nistor Grozavu said a decision is yet to be taken.
