The inhabitants of Chisinau municipality can file applications to benefit from cold-month allowances during the 2016-2017 heating season starting with September 20. The applications can be thus submitted one month earlier than the previous years. The announcement was made in the September 19 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that as during the previous years, cold-month allowances will be provided to the families that had an average monthly income lower than 2,500 lei per family member during the last 12 months. The allowances will represent 40% of the monthly bill for heat supplied in a centralized way.

Those who received cold-month allowances the previous season and have the same income will have to submit a confirmation application. The potential recipients must present a set of documents, including the salary certificate for the last 12 months issued at the workplace of the employed person. The pensioners and persons with disabilities must present the copy of the permit or of the certificate showing the size of pensions. The applications are submitted to the municipal housing stock managing companies or the district head’s office.

According to the director of the municipal public utilities billing company “Infocom” Ion Margineanu, over 36,000 families benefitted from cold-month allowances during the 2015-2016 heating season, by 2,000 families more than the previous season. The provided allowances exceeded 75 million lei.
