Residents demand halting construction works in basement of their building for fear it might collapse
A group of people living on 7/1 Moscow Blvd. in Rascani district of Chisinau complained to the City Hall that their building could collapse as a result of the construction works carried out in the basement. The people ask the local authorities to intervene and stop the works. Officials of the City Hall say yet that there are no reasons for concern, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The residents complain that it is very noisy even on Saturday and Sunday. According to them, the walls in their apartments cracked and there are fissures about two centimeters in width. The bearing walls and support pillars are being demolished in the basement and all the waste is taken out to the garbage bins in the yard.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said that the local authorities cannot intervene without a plausible reason. “The construction-related documents are in order,” the deputy mayor said.
Gheorghe Raileanu, the head of the Construction Authorization Division, refuted that the bearing walls and support pillars have been demolished. He said that the project presented by the beneficiary says that the basement will be outfitted with the necessary equipment and high-rigidity bars that support the building’s walls and there is no danger of collapse.
At the end of discussions, the parties agreed to meet once again, most probably on July 18. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the institutions that issued the documents allowing to start the construction.
