Researches find archeological vestiges near Chisinau maternity hospital

Researches of Moldova and Romania found a number of graves dating from the 16th century and archeological vestiges dating from the e17th-19th centuries and from the interwar period. The vestiges were found close to the site of the Old Market of the Chisinau Fair where Municipal Maternity Hospital No. 2 is now located, IPN reports.

The General Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division said the works are performed by students of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă” under the guidance of historian and archeologist Sergiu Musteață, specialists Ion Tentiuc and Ion Ursu and also of Romanian expert in physical anthropology Angela Simalcsik. The found vestiges will be examined by specialists and will be later exhibited at the museum.

The project to safeguard and examine the archeological heritage of the municipality of Chisinau is fully financed with municipal budget funds and is among the first investments made by the Chisinau City Hall in this sector.
