Swimming while under the influence of alcohol and in unknown places without rescue units and diving in running water are strictly banned, officers of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said in a news conference centering on prevention of cases of drowning in summer, IPN reports.
The event was held on a beach in Vadul lui Vodă town. After the conference, the rescuers, alongside police officers, discussed with persons who were on the bank of the Nistru and told them about the safety rules on water and near rivers and ponds.
Rescuers of the Regional Rescue Division No. 1 of Chisinau municipality patrolled the river on boat and disseminated the water accident prevention message, while teams of paramedics of the Mobile Reanimation and Extrication Service demonstrated first-aid maneuvers in case of drowning.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, 39 cases of drowning were recorded in the first six months of the year. Eight of the victims were children.
