The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations offered assistance in 182 emergency situations. The rescuers and firefighters towed away over 300 units of transport that got stuck in snowdrifts and on icy roads in the districts of Cahul, Căușeni, Basarabeasca, Leova, Dubăsari and Ialoveni, IPN reports.
Seven ambulances with 20 persons on board and eight buses with 99 persons aboard were helped to continue their way. The rescuers performed four missions to help incident response teams reach the necessary places so as to restore the power supply.
The Inspectorate continues monitoring the situation in the country following the whiteouts. The people are urged to avoid non-urgent travel on the national roads. If the trips cannot be avoided, the motor vehicles should be equipped with sand, shovel and chains and the mobile phone should be kept charged. In case of emergencies, the drivers should call the 112 Service.
