About 35,000 citizens from 19 localities of Hancesti district and from Romanian settlements situated at a distance of up to 30 km from the border will be served by a new rescue and firefighting station that was opened in Leuseni on July 26, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.
In the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the safety of citizens is a priority for the Government. As the station will also serve localities of Romania, the Premier said this is a gesture by which Moldova can contribute to the security of the neighboring state, in recognition for the support provided to the country, including through the SMURD project.
A number of 24 rescuers and firefighters will work at the station round-the-clock. The building is modern, has a leisure room and a sports hall. The station was outfitted at a cost of 4 million lei that was allocated from the state budget.
