Requirements for the Import and Export of Automobiles

The Customs Service informs owners about the process of importing a car and the documents necessary for the procedure, insisting that compliance with all legal requirements is important for placing vehicles under the import customs regime, IPN reports.

According to the Customs Service, vehicles can be imported regardless of their operational period. This period is calculated based on the year of manufacture of the car, not the year of registration.

The import procedure is carried out by the owner, a legally authorized person, or a licensed customs broker. Import duties vary depending on the operational period, engine capacity, and the value of the vehicle, which is calculated at customs.

To import a car, documents such as the owner's identity document, the document confirming ownership, and the technical passport of the vehicle are required at customs checkpoints. If the owner is represented by another person, a power of attorney issued to that person is also required.

Individuals declare the vehicle based on the standard customs declaration or in writing, according to the customs declaration form. The form is issued by the officer at the customs checkpoint where the vehicle is presented for customs clearance.
