Request to inhabitants of border zone villages

The Boarder Guard Service of the Republic of Moldova asks the population, mainly the inhabitants of border zone villages, to have a responsible attitude and reiterates that people or transport units are allowed to pass the border only if coordinated with the border police. This request is related to the infringements that have recently increased and to the fact that the barbed wire has been removed, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Border Guard press service, 38 persons have been arrested since the beginning of summer. 16 have been held for illegal fishing, while other 22 of them have been arrested for prohibited access in the border area. Most of them are young men who swam across Prut and Nistru rivers. The Border Guard reminds people living in border villages they can obtain a permit to reside in the boundary zone. These permits can be obtained at the local stations of the border police through personal or collective requests and presenting the identity card. If there is no such station nearby, citizens can submit their requests to the local public authorities. The Border Guard Service is responsible for 370 border localities.
