The Republican Experimental Prosthetics, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Center of Chisinau municipality will be reorganized from a state-owned enterprise into a public institution. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will act as the founder. This is provided in a draft decision proposed for public consultations, IPN reports.

The Center provides the persons with technical aids, such as prostheses, corsets and orthopedic shoes, and offers medical rehabilitation assistance to persons with disabilities, war veterans and persons with disorders of the locomotor system.

The Center receives financing on the basis of the state order, in accordance with the state budget law. About 50,000 persons have benefitted from its services so far. The medical-technic complex was founded based on the Prosthetics Factory set up in 1945 to diminish the consequences of World War II.
