Republic of Moldova and Council of Europe could elaborate a common action plan resembling the one from EU
Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev and special representative of the General Secretary of the Council of Europe (CoE) in Chisinau, Vladimir Filipov, have agreed to elaborate a common Republic of Moldova – European Union action plan for 2007–2009.
During a meeting with the Premier regarding the end of his diplomatic mission, Vladimir Filipov highly appreciated the collaboration and partnership relations established. The ambassador mentioned that during his three years stay in the Republic of Moldova, he had considerable successes in all activity areas and especially in getting closer to the European Union. “I believe the reforms implemented fulfill the expectations of the Moldovan nation”, Filipov stated.
Vasile Tarlev expressed himself for an efficient support from the CoE in the urgent establishment of the Center for EU visas for citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and also for simplification in the process. The head of the Executive also requested support for RM in obtaining the Asymmetric Commercial Preferences and the EU Association Agreement.
During a meeting with the head of the Parliament, Marian Lupu, the speaker declared that the position of the Republic of Moldova will not change – political stability is a crucial value for the state, including for the promotion of the Republic of Moldova brand.
During both meetings Vladimir Rostovski was introduced, the man that will take over the function of Filipov as special representative of the CoE General Secretary in the Republic of Moldova.
