Reprimand for two border guards that denied access to Romanian delegations
Two border guards of Leuseni Customs will receive severe reprimand for obstructing the entrance to Moldova to three official Romanian delegations on October 12, Igor Colenov, head of the Border Guard Service told reporters on October 17.
He avoided saying who the two border guards are, arguing that he does not remember their names. But he promised he will make their names known at the meeting of the Border Guard Service’s Attestation Commission that will take place on October 19. The two border guards are invited to the meeting.
Colenov said that during investigations it was established that the Romanian delegations were denied access because they wanted to cross the border without waiting for their turn.
The head of the Border Guards Service assured that the incident at Leuseni Customs last weekend was the only one of this kind. According to him, 16,000 foreigners crossed the Moldovan border during two days, including 3,000 Romanians.
Colenov also said that to avoid such “resonant” cases in the future, the Romanian border guards were invited to a joint meeting to discuss the improvement of cooperation at all border checkpoints.
