The representatives of a number of sports federations said they will support the Party of Socialists’ candidate Ion Ceban in the June 3 mayoral runoffs. According to them, namely this candidate devoted increased attention to the sports sector and will definitely contribute further to its development.
In a news conference at IPN, Anatolie Pecherski, of the Powerlifting Federation of Moldova, said the development of the sports sector depends on the mayor. Ion Ceban showed involvement and the Powerlifting Federation during three years has benefitted from support and top athletes gained access to the international arena. Two national championships were held with the assistance of Ion Ceban and his colleagues.
“Elections will take place on June 3. We decided who to vote for and consider everyone should decide if they want a good manager in the city, a person who would support the sports sector and would stop the full destruction of sports facilities in the city. We must understand that sports mean not only the country’s prestige, but also the health of the young generations. I think we should support Ion Ceban,” stated Anatolie Pecherski.
Vladimir Kiselyov, a member of the Volleyball Federation of Moldova, said the whole sports sector, not only volleyball, is in a deplorable state. There are not enough training halls and grounds. If the citizens vote for a good manager, such as Ion Ceban, the sports sector will be supported and the athletes will manage to achieve results not only at home, but also on international arenas.
Rustam Alimov, chairman of the public association “Wrestling Sports Club”, said Ion Ceban helped not only once to stage training sessions and to take part in competitions abroad. He contributed to repairing the sports hall so as to enable the children and sportspersons to train in decent conditions. “I urge everyone to vote on June 3 and make a correct choice, including for the young people’s future. We made the choice and know who we will vote for,” noted the young man.
Victor Golovichkin, of the Motorsport Federation, said he has cooperated with the team of Ion Ceban and with him personally for five years already. “Let’s think carefully who to vote for as today we have a real choice and this choice should be correct. We made our choice,” he stated, calling on the citizens to vote for the Socialist candidate on June 3.
