Representatives of public organisation protest against “anarchy” in Chisinau City Hall
Hundreds protested on Wednesday, February 15, against the “anarchy” in the City Hall of Chisinau as regards the trees clearing, sale of lands and building of facilities on the playing grounds for children. The action was organised by Chisinau Residents’ Association “Casa noastră – Chisinau”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Association’s head Oleg Onişcenco stated during the protest meeting that most of problems the capital’s residents confront with are created by the City Hall’s functionaries. As he says, they are selling, distributing hundreds of plots, inclusively in the green spaces, on playing grounds for children, on the few stadiums set out in the districts. Onişcenco made an appeal to the law enforcement bodies to investigate the way the lands are allotted and clearing of green spaces is performed.
Oleg Onişcenco is against the illegal cutting down of 20 trees on the playing grounds for children at the crossroad of Ismail Street and Cantemir Boulevard, works performed by a firm that benefits from the police’s protection. The quoted source says that such cases become more and more often in Chisinau, showing that functionaries of different rank, from the local and central administration, have floundered in corruption. “The houses of million dollars, built in the parks of Chisinau, are also related to the cases of corruption, while the law enforcement bodies are obliged to investigate the grounds of these millions”, Onişcenco asserts.
As speaker says, in 2006 the Chisinau local authorities sold alone over 45 ha of land for the laughable price of MDL 6 mln, the market price of these lands being of MDL 80 mln at least.
Protestors have carried placards chanting “Functionaries of City Hall, stop selling our parks and lands”, “Power against society”, “No – to corruption in the City Hall!”
The protest action has been authorised by Chisinau City Hall.
