Representatives of power and of association pronounce on Promo-LEX repots

Programs director of Promo-LEX Association Pavel Postică said the organization provides very clear election monitoring reports and has applied the same methodology since 2009. According to him, these reports contain very exact details so as to enable electoral competitors to bring their activities in order. For his part, the vice president of the Democratic Party Sergiu Sîrbu admitted that Promo-LEX  has special experience in monitoring, but this should be used appropriately. The issue was developed in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“What we tried to do every time was to sensitize the electoral contenders so that they bring things in their courts in order,” noted the programs director of Promo-LEX.

According to him, the organization analyzes how the courts of law resolve disputes and also the electoral registers. “The state institutions, not election runners are involved in both of the cases,” stated Pavel Postică.

Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu said the association should continue its monitoring activities. “Rather complex elections are approaching. The competitors accuse each other from morning till evening and the voters are influenced by particular opinions. When a respected observation association makes accusations before confirming these, a particular electoral contender is being created a negative image,” stated the politician.

Activist Ștefan Gligor said the reports produced by Promo-LEX are issued seldom and should be published weekly so that the voters are aware of the violations committed in the election campaign. The utilization of the state budget is one of the methods used to corrupt and persuade the votes, by indexation, salary raises and other projects. “That’s why these reports brother. They are based on facts and are very well compiled and substantiated,” stated Ștefan Gligor.

The second monitoring report presented by the observation mission of Promo-LEX on January 10 points to increased activism among already registered electoral competitors or potential competitors before the parliamentary elections held based on the mixed electoral system. In the monitored period, December 10 – January 8, there were staged about 280 events, approximately 100 of which can be described as offering of presents in the electoral period. The Democratic Party criticized the reports and said it decided to send its analysis of the two 2019 parliamentary election monitoring reports issued by Promo-LEX Association so far to the diplomatic corps in the country, OSCE observers and direct backers of the association (USAID, Soros Foundation, Council of Europe and British Embassy in Chisinau).
