Most political parties are not completely satisfied with the outcome of the local elections that took place on October 20, and each of them has high hopes of improving their score after the second round. Representatives of several political parties shared their views on the first round in a special edition on Moldova 1 public TV station, IPN reports.
Democratic MP Nicolae Ciubuc says that the PDM appreciates the result of the elections as a good and even expected one, especially through the prism of the current government. The MP is convinced that after the second round of elections, which will take place in over 300 settlements, the PDM will get a much better score than in 2015, when it had 280 mayors. "This confirms once again our position, the position of the Democratic Party as a socially oriented party, focused on the development of projects for people. The achievements and the good deeds of the last years have brought positive results”, said Ciubuc.
Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinschi argues that the results show that the PSRM must make sustained efforts in both territorial and primary organizations. "We have to see how the candidates were chosen, probably some of them were not the best. As a result of this, our outcome in some settlements have been mediocre. "I wish all the mayors had been elected from the first round so that, immediately after the elections, we could proceed to direct activity and, regardless of the political colour of the mayor, he must work in favour of the whole community," said the Socialist.
The MP of the Action and Solidarity Party group, ACUM bloc, Vladimir Bolea, argues that the current elections were the freest in the history of the Republic of Moldova. Regarding the formation of the majority in the district and local councils, the PAS is waiting for the second round of elections and the validation of mandates. "The coalitions are set up to create opportunities for solving the issues in the settlements. This is the formula we will use for creating local coalitions only for the purpose of dealing with the issues faced by the settlements”, said the MP.
The deputy chair of the Liberal Democratic Party, Alexandru Bujoreanu, says that PLDM did not participate in the last three elections for various reasons, and the October 20 elections were a kind of relaunching of the party. Bujoreanu says he is not satisfied with the result, but "for a party that suffered a major blow", it is a "quite honourable" score. "What is more important for us is that in the future local administrations stress be laid on the problems of the people rather than on political colours," said the Liberal Democrat.
Marina Tauber, Sor Party MP, is also dissatisfied with the results of the local elections, however, given the state of affairs in the party, it is a good result, she says. "Yes, we have only 13 mayor offices, but given the situation that we are deprived of all rights, as an opposition party, in the first local elections in which we participate massively, having to compete with the parliamentary majority, this is a good result", Tauber said. According to her, the candidates of the Șor Party are going to run in the second round with 38 more candidates.
The Deputy Chairman of the Our Party political party, Ilian Cașu, argues that the party he represents has obtained the greatest number of mayors of cities in the first round. He refers to the PPPN victory in Balti, Drochia, Glodeni, Leova, Vulcănești and Iargara. "We will run in the second round in four cities and we will fight with all our might and in compliance with the law," said Ilian Cașu. According to him, the election campaign in the city of Balti was the dirtiest in the political history of the Republic of Moldova. Ilian Cașu says that unprecedented administrative resources have been used in the Balti campaign.
