About 75 ethnic and cultural organizations that represent 30 ethnic communities will take part in the 16th Festival of Ethnic Groups entitled “Unity through Diversity” that will be staged in the central park of Chisinau on September 24, starting at 9:30am, IPN reports.
The festival will involve all the national minorities’ branches of the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”: “Lesia Ukrainka”, “Mikhail Lomonosov”, “Ițik Mangher”, “Adam Mickiewicz”, “Hristo Botev”, and “Mihail Ciachir”. They will promote the literature, culture and traditions of ethnic groups by exhibitions, plastic arts, decorative-applicative works of art, national costumes, artistic programs, masterclasses, etc.
The representatives of ethnic groups will also present the national cousins.
For the first time, the festival will feature the Fencing Federation “РАТАР” of Ukraine, the Police Choir of the Straseni Home of Culture and the Ivancea mayor’s office of Orhei district. Also, the Interethnic Relations Bureau will take part with a pavilion where it will exhibit photos and videos of the institution’s work and of the work of the EU Delegation to Moldova, the State Agency on Intellectual Property and the National Association of European Trainers from Moldova.
The festival is organized by the Interethnic Relations Bureau in partnership with the Chisinau City Hall, the Coordinating Council of Ethnic and Cultural Organizations, local public authorities and media outlets of Moldova.
