Representatives from over 70 countries invited to attend Chisinau Day celebrations
Foreign officials from over 70 countries are expected to attend celebrations dedicated to Chisinau's Patron Saint's Day on October 14, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Gabriela Ciumac, the head of the municipal division responsible for foreign relations, told the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday that the invitees include mayors from twin cities.
“This year our city turns 575 and we decided to invite all the foreign ambassadors accredited in Moldova, including those who are based abroad. There will be delegations and honorary guests. At this point, 28 delegations have confirmed their attendances”, said Gabriela Ciumac.
According to her, the ambassadors of such countries as Qatar, Egypt, Sudan, Angola, Albania and Spain have been invited for the first time. The guests also include mayors and deputy mayors from Romania, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine etc.
Also, more than 10 foreign dance bands are expected to participate in the celebrations.
Chisinau celebrates its day on October 14 on the feast of Protection of the Mother of God.
