Repeated nomination of Natalia Gavrilița creates precedent of usurpation of power, PSRM

The repeated designation of Natalia Gavrilița as Prime Minister creates a dangerous precedent of usurpation of state power. The nomination decree will be challenged in the Constitutional Court, the head of the Socialist parliamentary group Corneliu Furculiță reiterated in a news conference on February 12, IPN reports.

Corneliu Furculiță said that until a final decision is taken by the Constitutional Court, Parliament cannot examine again the government program and the composition of the Cabinet proposed by Natalia Gavrilița.

He noted that there is a parliamentary majority that supports Mariana Durleșteanu. This is not a political coalition formed in Parliament.

“The PSRM proposed a candidate for Prime Minister and invited all the MPs, regardless of the group or party of which they form part, to sign in favor of this candidate. The administration of our group discussed with the leaders of all the parliamentary groups. The PSRM is ready to further have a constructive dialogue with all the parliamentary groups and with MPs so as to identify the optimal variant for overcoming the political crisis, based on the interests of our country’s citizens,” stated the MP.

He called on President Maia Sandu not to follow the path of self-dissolution of Parliament and to obey the provisions of the Constitution.

Corneliu Furculiță also said that the suspicions of integrity invoked by Maia Sandu referred to the MPs and are not an argument for not accepting candidate Mariana Durleșteanu. Mariana Durleșteanu will come to discuss with the parliamentary groups and Corneliu Furculiță is sure that she will find more support besides the 54 MPs who signed for her.
