Repatriation of 13 Moldovans from Gaza underway

The operation to repatriate 13 Moldovan citizens who were in Gaza is in progress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has said. The repatriation via Egypt started after the given citizens sought help from the Embassy in the Republic of Moldova in Tel Aviv. The operation involves cell crisis of the Ministry, of Moldova’s Embassies in Tel-Aviv, Ankara, Kiev and of the consular office in Odessa, IPN reports.

The evacuated citizens were transported up to Cairo with health insurance, food and basic necessities, in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt. On the Rafah – Cairo route, the security of the Moldovan and Ukrainian citizens was ensured with the assistance of the Egyptian authorities.

The Moldovan diplomatic service made approaches to obtain travel permits as a matter of urgency. The necessary PCR tests were done for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to be able to transit Egypt and continue the trip by a special plane provided by the Government of Ukraine.

The 13 citizens will return to Chisinau on May 27, through the Kiev – Chisinau route, by a bus provided by the Government.

The Embassy in Tel-Aviv is permanently in touch with the Moldovan citizens who didn’t want to leave Gaza as part of this operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recommends the citizens who are in the area and who haven’t yet registered their presence to contact the Embassy and inform it about their place of stay so that they could benefit from the authorities’ assistance in an eventual emergency.
