This year the municipality plans to perform maintenance repairs in 252 educational establishments in Chisinau municipality, a process expected to be completed by September 25, at a cost of 66.6 million lei, according to information presented by municipal education deputy chief Valeriu Mîrza.

Mîrza told the City Hall’s ordinary meeting today that the budget for maintenance and other material improvements in schools has been on the rise in recent years. Also, additional funds are looked for over the course of the year to be able to cope with any emergency, such as natural disasters.

In kindergartens, it is planned to open 14 new groups for a total capacity of 400 children in already existing early education institutions.

Acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu said all the information relating to maintenance and repairs, such as deadlines and budgets, must become public so that parents can see them. At the end of August, a joint commission will be created to inspect the quality of repairs.
