Repair of last portion of Chisinau-Hincesti road has been completed
The repair of the last 8 kilometers long portion of the Chisinau-Hincesti road has been completed and put into service on Thursday, the Ministry of Transport and Roads said in a press release.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat stated this road represents not just a connection between the towns that it crosses but also a sample of how roads are going to look like throughout the country in the near future. “Next spring this road will be continued until the Leuseni-Albita border crossing. Also then, the reconstruction of the Chisinau-Sculeni road with all its roundabouts will be started. Further, the project will be continued for the road that connects Chisinau and Balti”.
Transport Minister Anatol Salaru noted that the rehabilitated road was “perfect”. “This is a modern road that meets all requirement. At the same time, drivers should keep in mind that this is a national road, and not a racetrack”.
EU Delegation Head Dirk Schuebel said the rehabilitation of this road will benefit all the citizens of Moldova and it demonstrates where the funds and efforts of the government, the donor institutions and development partners are channeled into.
The Chisinau-Hincesti road was rehabilitated thanks to a loan offered by the European Investment Bank. The rehabilitation has cost 133 million lei and spanned over a period of 18 months. The first 14 km portion of the rehabilitated road was put into service in 2010.
