Repair of Chisinau apartment building still an unsolved problem
The apartment buildings in Chisinau will be never adequately repaired as there is no money. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said the sums paid by the population for maintaining the buildings are insufficient for carrying out repair works, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Thursday, Dorin Chirtoaca said the money paid by the residents of Chisinau for every square meter of dwelling cannot cover the costs of repairing the stairs, pipes and roofs.
“The repair of the apartment buildings remains an unsolved problem,” the mayor said, adding the costs incurred by the municipal housing stock managing companies are larger than their incomes.
Dorin Chirtoaca said that if the Chisinau apartment buildings were organized into privatized dwelling owners associations, some of the problems, including those concerning repairs, would be solved easier. He stated that the decisions should be taken voluntarily, while an association should consist of at least three apartment buildings.
