Reorganization of municipal stations throttles the press – Serafim Urecheanu
Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of the Parliamentary faction “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, considers that the reorganization via alienation of the municipal stations “Euro TV Chisinau” and “Antena C” is an action aiming at throttling the media, an action promoted as a result of the “arrangements between the Communist and Christian-Democrat MPs.”
Serafim Urecheanu told Info-Prim Neo that the intentions of the red-orange coalition to privatize “Antena C” and “Euro TV Chisinau” using the model applied in the case of the governmental newspapers “Nezavisimaia Moldova” and “Moldova Suverana” is a trick intended to silence people and close down the last democratic information sources in Moldova.
The decision to reorganize the two municipal stations was voted by the Communist and Christian-Democrat councillors at the session of the Municipal Council of November 30. Later, 17 councillors representing other factions, as well as independent councillors asked the interim mayor to convene an extraordinary session in order to discuss the issue related to the municipal stations. The session was planned for December 14. Meanwhile, the liquidation commission works in both institutions and on Monday December 11, the State Audit will get involved in the process.
