The rent of textbooks will cost the pupils in the new scholar year between 53 88 lei. Thus the 5th graders will pay for a set of 10 textbooks 60.5 lei, with 2 lei more than the last year. Rending the manuals for the 6th grade will cost 53 lei for the pupils having Romanian as mother tongue and 79 lei for others. The price difference is warranted by the additional cost of translated manuals. The same situation for the 7th graders: 58 lei for the ones studying in Romanian-language schools and 88 lei for others. Some 65 lei will cost the rent of manuals for the 8th grade in Romanian, and 83 lei for the pupils studying in Russian. The manuals for the pupils studying in the last year of gymnasium in Romanian will cost as the set for the 5th grade, only it will contain two books more. The ethnic minority children will have to pay 83.8 lei for 14 manuals. Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the head of the Chisinau Education Direction, Tatiana Tverdohleb, says as it was the previous years, there will be discounts for the children from poor families. Special money has been provided in the state budget for that purpose. Since 2003, the pupils rent the textbooks in conformity with a system established by the Government.
