Renowned artists from 7 countries participate in 20th Maria Biesu Festival

Many renowned artists from 7 different countries will be interpreting famous roles at the 20th edition of the “Maria Biesu” Festival. They will be joined by national talents, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valeria Seican, director of the National Theatre of Ballet and Opera (TNOB), told a press conference that this festival is one of the most important events of the year. “The Maria Biesu Festival, being traditional and more special, will be slightly more sad this year, but just as bright and full of love”, said Valeria Seican. The artistic director of TNOB and folk artist Vladimir Dragos, said that this festival will be presented at the highest level. “Marie Biesu had everything, yet lacked something – a competitor. She never had any competition. She was unmatched in all four corners of the world. That is why we must proudly wear her name”, said Vladimir Dragos. The recently appointed grand conductor of TNOB, Razan Cernat, said that he never dreamed of becoming one. “I think this is a wonderful place, exuberant with many priceless gifts. I consider that what I have found here makes us hope that the quality will continuously improve. I will fight as much as I can to bring a humble contribution to what is being built”, said TNOB’s grand conductor. Austrian conductor Friedrich Pfeiffer said that he is honored to come to the festival once more. He mentioned that it’s wonderful to work with the TNOB team, who is of superior skill. The “Maria Biesu” festival starts on Friday, September 7, and will end on the 15th of the same month. An international contest of opera singers will take place during the festival, at the “Serghei Lunchevici” National Philharmonic. The festival will start with the opera show “Tosca”, followed by “Manon”, “Madam Butterfly”, “Swans’ Lake”, “Masquerade”, and “The Sleeping Beauty”.
