Ten sports grounds in block courtyards in Chișinău have been renovated over the course of the last two years. The municipality has allocated almost eight million lei for the renovation works. In order to avoid vandalizing the renovated land, video surveillance systems will soon be installed.
The head of the General Agency for Communal Housing and Development, Ion Burdiumov, said during a City Hall meeting that, over the course of 2018 and 2019, three sports grounds have been renovated in each the Botanica and the Râșcani sectors. Two sports grounds were renovated in the Ciocana sector and one in Buiucani and in the Center.
Budgets differ depending on the area and on the performed work. For example, for the renovation of the sports grounds on Academiei street, over 852 thousand lei were spent. Artificial grass was planted. The fence was built, mini-football gates were installed, lanterns and sidewalks were placed. Development costs exceeded one million lei in other cases.
Currently, two other lands are being modernized on Grigore Vieru Boulevard, 26 and Cetatea Albă street, 5. According to the contract, the works are to be completed by the end of the month. The addresses for future works will be determined after consultations with citizens.
According to DGLCA data, there are around 90 football or basketball courts on the grounds of block courtyards in the capital. Ion Burdiumov claimed that regulations for the organization and operation of these grounds is currently being drafted.
