In the new local mayoral elections in Balti municipality, the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) will have two candidates. The party’s president Renato Usatyi said he has no other way out than to field a candidate on behalf of the party and an independent candidate. The issue was developed in the talk show “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
Renato Usatyi said the two candidates have been already announced - Nicolae Grigorishin and independent Elena Gritsko. Polls show Nicolae Grigorishin has a better position and the main struggle will be given between this and the representative of the Socialists. “If they see that Grigorishin can win by one round, they will remove him from the race three days before the elections,” stated Renato Usatyi, noting that in this case he will call on the electors to vote for Elena Gritsko.
Renato Usatyi said he will prepare for such a scenario, including with brochures whereby the people will be urged to vote for the second candidate of the PPPN if Nicolae Grigorishin is removed from the electoral race in Balti. “If we reach Friday evening and see that everything is ok, Gritsko will withdraw her candidacy and only one candidate of the PPPN will remain on the list,” stated the politician.
Ex-MP Stela Jantuan wondered if measures won’t be taken against both of the candidates nominated by the PPPN if the party’s intension is known beforehand. “I think there are more intelligent technologies than those proposed by the PPPN,” she stated.
The new mayoral elections in Balti municipality will take place on May 20.
