The Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) will challenge the result of the local elections in at least two settlements – Edinet town and Tvardita village of Taraclia district, the party’s leader Renato Usatyi told a news conference, quoted by IPN.
According to Usatyi, in Edinet the elections were rigged, while in Tvardita, the PPPN’s candidate was included in the electoral race two days before the election day. “Our candidate in Tvardita didn’t have time to campaign. We also have enough evidence for Edinet. We will demand annulling the results of the elections in these settlements. We are now assessing the situation in other settlements and can challenge the results there too,” said the leader of the PPPN.
Renato Usatyi expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved by his party in the local elections. “We had candidates only in half of the settlements and 80% of these won the elections. We can form majority coalitions in all the local councils where our candidates ran. In the other cases, we will form coalitions with the Party of Socialists. We are glad that our candidates won the elections not narrowly, but with at least 60% of the vote,” said the leader of the PPPN.
Renato Usatyi is yet dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections in Chisinau. “It is regrettable that professionalism didn’t win and the vote was geopolitical. Even if I am the mayor of Balti, I will become involved in Chisinau too if I see that things do not go as they should,” he stated.
In the same news conference, Renato Usatyi announced that his inauguration as mayor of Balti will be modest. “I gave up staging concerts. Balti town is in a difficult situation. I was informed that the whole town can be disconnected from the water supply the coming days owing to a debt of 100 million lei. I yet promise a nice concert on the Independence Day,” he said.
