The Our Party could form coalitions at the local level with the Party of Socialists. The Our Party’s chairman told a news conference that he agreed this verbally with Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
“We cannot boast of having many mayors now, but we won in Balti and in Rascani. Our situation is not at all bad in the district and municipal councils. In Chisinau, we didn’t win, but we have very good results elsewhere. If parliamentary elections had been held, I think we would have won not less than 25%,” stated Renato Usatyi.
The new mayor-elect of Balti said some of the members of the Party of Communists after the elections asked if they can join his party. “We were also asked by residents of Chisinau why we didn’t run in the capital city. I told them that from the mayoralty of Balti I will reach directly the presidency,” he stated.
As to his actions as mayor of Balti, the leader of Our Party said he will carry out an audit at the municipal companies and will start to bring things in order in the center of the town initially, where the square must be repaired and lighting must be created. There will be built a gym with considerable investments from his part. He will also deal with the problems of the football team from Balti.
Renato Usatyi won the mayoral elections in Balti by over 70% of the vote.
