The leader of the Our Party Renato Usatyi said all the criminal cases against him were started when it became clear that his party enjoys support among the voters. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases should be liquidated as this is nothing else but a machinery for repression and control, IPN reports.
In a news conference, the former mayor of Balti said criminal cases were started against him over alleged attempts on the lives of Russian banker German Gorbuntsov and former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, and over smuggling. One of the cases over smuggling was started in 2014, when he bought his Rolls-Royces. He was accused of smuggling cash from Moldova into Germany. Even if he presented proofs of purchase showing the transaction was legal, the case wasn’t dropped.
“Three-four cases were started over attempted coup. In one of these, I think I’m investigated together with Năstase. We also have by one separate case,” stated the politician. In the other cases, he is charged with preparation of destabilization in Donetsk and Lugansk. None of the cases refer to his activity at the Balti mayor’s office.
“After over 20 cases were started against me, I stopped counting them. All the cases were started when the Our Party was one of the most powerful parties”.
According to the ex-mayor of Balti, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases is managed by a person close to the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc. This institution turned into a conveyor for “printing” criminal cases against him and others.
