The leader of the Our Party Renato Usatyi said that over 70 large companies today pay 13 lei per cubic meters of gas, while other businesses and the citizens pay a charge of 29 lei. In a news conference, the politician presented an alleged contract signed by a resident of Chisinau and a gas supplier for a charge of almost 14 lei per cubic meter of gas. In this connection, the authorities said that they are monitoring the situation and will intervene, IPN reports.
Renato Usatyi noted that together with the decision to liberalize the gas market taken in 2016, about 20 companies started to import and sell natural gas market. As a result of an analysis, he ascertained that five of these companies are very active and supply natural gas to a number of companies at the price of 11 to 14 lei. SA Moldovagaz supplies the citizens with gas at a charge of over 29 lei.
The politician said that he sent a number of letters to companies that sell natural gas, some of them in the name of legal entities, while others in the name of private individuals. He received responses from a number of companies and one of them invited a natural person and signed a contract for the supply of gas at the price of 14.5 lei per cubic meter of gas with one of these. “Today, the people without nepotism can purchase gas for 14.5 lei, not for 29 lei,” he stated.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean said some of the companies benefit from special gas charges. “The Government monitors this situation and will intervene. The current gas charge is applied in order to cover the price deviations and it is not equitable for this difference in prices to be covered by only some of the enterprises and by household users. A decision to this effect will be taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations on Wednesday,” stated the Premier.
