The leader of the political party “Our Party” Renato Usatyi said he will be making every effort to reach the runoffs of the presidential elections of November 1, 2020. He noted the incumbent President Igor Dodon is not his opponent, but is the problem of all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
“In a normal state, the opponents should be all electoral contenders. There is now only one person on the political arena who resorts to fake news, who affords to offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash to national and foreign consultants, who makes false statements about a contender’s costs reported to the CEC, who makes dirty videos about Renato Usatyi and Maia Sandu from morning till evening. There is only one person – Dodon, who inherited from Plahotniuc a number of trolls and a series of websites with fake news. The entire team that created this mess works for Igor Dodon. That’s why he is not my electoral opponent. He is a national problem that should be dealt with,” Renato Usatyi stated in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV channel.
The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for President Tudor Deliu said the former leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon is his main rival.
“During these four years, Igor Dodon hasn’t represented me as a citizen of the Republic of Moldova. He didn’t do something to integrate society. During four years, Dodon practically didn’t fulfill any of his constitutional duties, except for the conferring of honorific titles, medals and military ranks. He was like a brigadier who went to wheat fields all over the Republic of Moldova to look for I don’t know what,” stated Tudor Deliu.
Expert Ștefan Gligor said eight candidates for President are too many for a country like Moldova.
“The campaign is rather crowded. The ceiling of 15,000 signatures is exaggerated for the Republic of Moldova and actually keeps many good people, who could not cope with this financial, administrative, logistic effort and collect 15,000 signatures, far from politics,” stated Ștefan Gligor.
Eight candidates will be competing for office of President on November 1: Renato Usatyi (Our Party), Andrei Năstase (PPPDA), Tudor Deliu (PLDM), Igor Dodon (independent), Violeta Ivanov (Shor Party), Maia Sandu (PAS), Octavian Țîcu (PUN) and Dorin Chirtoacă (UNION Electoral Bloc).
