The leader of Our Party Renato Usatîi decided to leave the post of mayor of Bălți. He expressed his disappointment with the electoral score obtained in Bălți in the July 11 snap parliamentary elections. Tomorrow, July 13, the mayor goes on leave. When he returns, he will vacate the position, IPN reports.

Renato Usatîi told a news conference that he does not want to stay if the people have other preferences. While managing the municipality of Bălți, his team showed that it can do good things. It developed sports, repaired roads, supported the veterans, but now wants to respect the decision of the residents of the municipality.

He said he was surprised to see how the people in Bălți voted. It is regrettable that the people didn’t believe in good things, but believed the false information disseminated by all kinds of politicians.

Renato Usatîi also said that snap mayoral electors in Bălți will be most probably held in autumn. He and his deputy Nicolae Grigorishin will not run in these. “The inhabitants of Bălți will no longer find a fool who will invest his own money in the municipality,” stated Usatîi, noting he accepts the electoral option of the voters in Bălți and does not see any sense in holding further the post of mayor. He added that he does not stick to posts and therefore today he took the most difficult decision in his life – to resign.

Also, the congress of Our Party will be convened to elect a new president of the party.

The preliminary election results show three parties will enter Parliament: the Party of Action and Solidary with 52.80% of the ballot, the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists with 27.17% and the Shor Party with 5.74%. The Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi” ranked fourth with 4.1% of the vote at a time when the election threshold for an electoral bloc is 7%.

In Bălți, BeCS gained 40.17% of the vote, PAS – 27.34%, while the bloc led by Renato Usatîi – 22.69%.
