Remains of cabby discovered 15 years later after murder
The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs found the skeleton of a taxi driver, native of Calarasi, who disappeared without a trace 15 years ago. The police also arrested two men suspected of his murder.
According to MIA, the skeleton was found in the vicinity of Tabara village, Orhei district. After exhumation, the remains were examined by forensic experts, who identified the victim as the disappeared taxi driver.
According to the police, the arrested suspects, two cousins from Calarasi, confessed to the murder and gave details on the crime. According to their testimony, in the spring of 1992, the men, hired a taxi driver for a journey, during which the victim noticed that the passengers carried Kalashnikov rifle. Frightened that he could denounce them the cousins strangled the driver with a rope and then buried him. The car was taken out of the country and sold in a Ukrainian city.
If the men are found guilty, they will face 25 years in jail or life imprisonment.
