Relicts of St John the Baptist to be brought to Chisinau

The reliquary with the relicts of Saint John the Baptist and of Great Saint Martyrs Mina and Haralampus and Saint John the Russian will be brought to Great Saint Martyr Tiron Monastery (Ciuflea) in Chisinau on January 18, IPN reports, on the eve of Epiphany, IPN reports.

On its website, the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and All Moldova announces that the relicts taken from Greece will be met at 9am. The Christians are invited to come and worship them.

John was the son of Zacharias and Elizabeth. The birth of John was foretold by angels. John is described as having the unique practice of baptism for the forgiveness of sins. It is generally greed that John baptized Jesus in the Jordan. He died as a martyr, being beheaded by order of Herod Antipas.
