Relatives of persons who received state awards posthumously will get an allowance

The first-degree relatives of persons awarded the Order of the Republic and the Order “Stefan cel Mare” posthumously will receive a monthly allowance of 500 lei from the state. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament on June 2, IPN reports.

Oxana Domenti, chairwoman of the Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family, said those entitled to a nominal allowance include the wife/husband or mother/father of the persons awarded posthumously. “The nominal allowance will be paid first to the wife or husband, depending on the case, and then to the mother of the awarded person. If there is no wife, husband or mother, the allowance will be paid to the father,” she stated, adding that about 804,000 lei a year will be allocated from the state budget for the purpose.

Three persons were awarded posthumously the Order of the Republic and 131 the Order “Stefan cel Mare” in Moldova since 1992 until now.
