The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said the relations between the components of the government coalition of Moldova are fueled by the enormous responsibility that they bear in this really historical stage through which Moldova goes. “This responsibility is mush greater than the disagreements that appear on a number of subjects or areas,” the ex-Premier said in an interview given to Radio Free Europe.

“Governance does not mean promotion of personal or party interests. One must have the ability to overcome such interests and take decisions in the national interests. We showed for many times that we have this ability even if we were often criticized unjustly. But, as they say ‘life beats the movie’,” stated Vlad Filat.

According to him, no discussions about hirings and firings in the government are now held, as the press reported. “At the current stage, we do not have such discussions, but, if need be, they will be held, notwithstanding the rumors, the interests or the attacks on ruling parties’ representatives in the government,” said the politician.

Vlad Filat also said that during a week, from May 19 until May 25, he will be visiting the United States, where he will meet with senators, congressmen and representatives of the U.S. media. “I will also give a speech in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council. The program of the visit is very good and I hope the results will also be as such,” he stated, adding that Moldova’s final goal is to establish formalized strategic partnership relations with the U.S.
