Reintegration policies bureau announces that Tiraspol blocked the "1+1" meeting

The meeting between the political representatives in the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement from Chisinau and Tiraspol is postponed. Chisinau, which had proposed the date of January 17, announces that Tiraspol has blocked the "1+1" format meeting. The Reintegration Policies Bureau specifies that the meeting was intended to agree on the mechanism for providing humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of the region, IPN reports.

The meeting, requested by Chisinau, was supposed to take place on Friday at 10:00, although Chisinau, considering the urgency of the issue, was willing to meet earlier this week.

"Chisinau wanted to obtain Tiraspol's response regarding the delivery of coal from Ukraine to ensure the operation of the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant; to determine the urgent needs for hospitals, educational institutions, and social centers; to ensure access for ambulances from the right bank of the Dniester to pick up critically ill patients from the region; and to create an ad-hoc group to manage the crisis situation," stated the Reintegration Policies Bureau.

Tiraspol insists on holding the meeting on the left bank of the Dniester, citing alleged dangers in Chisinau for its delegation members. Chisinau proposed as an alternative organizing the meeting in a videoconference format.
