Reintegration Bureau says Tiraspol's newly introduced duties are counterproductive

The Reintegration Bureau is considering the Tiraspol administration's decision to introduce special customs duties on goods from the western side of the Nistru to be “counterproductive”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Bureau noted in a press release that at the latest meeting between Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Transnistria region's leader Yevgeny Shevchuk on September 26 the issue wasn't brought up. “Regretfully, on the very same day, a document was issued in Tiraspol imposing new special duties on the goods from the right side (of the Nistru). We consider that such unilateral actions by the Transnistrian side are counterproductive, are in disagreement with the understandings reached within the established constructive dialogue, represent in fact a step backwards from the understandings reached at the latest meetings, and will have a negative impact on the economic situation of the people and businesses on both sides of the Nistru River”, the Bureau stated.
