Regulations that enable pregnant women to get both salary and benefit adjusted

The Cabinet adjusted the regulations that enable pregnant women to simultaneously receive the salary and the maternity benefit if they continue work during the last pregnancy weeks, IPN reports.

“By these adjustments, we aim to ensure the realization of the right to maternity benefit also for pregnant women who choose to work during the maternity leave,” said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu.

Under the new amendments, the maternity benefit can be calculated from the earnings of the insured husband or from the earnings of the insured wife, depending on which of these will yield a higher benefit. The benefit can be calculated from the earnings of the husband if he confirms that he paid contributions during at least three years or has a contributory period of at least nine months during the last 24 hours prior to the date the maternity benefit is set.
