Regulations on management and protection of green areas in Chisinau presented

The green areas in Chisinau municipality will be managed and protected based on regulations. In the first public debate on the issue on May 13, the municipality presented the document that lays down new rules concerning the development of green areas in Chisinau. After a series of debates, the regulations will be adopted by the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.

The regulations will be used by the municipal authorities and by business entities that manage green areas owned by the municipality. Trees, bushes, roses and other flowers will be planted annually during April – October. In the period, the lawns will be mowed and trimmed, the flowerbeds will be laid out and treated for pests and disease, the soil will be broken up and the green areas will be cleaned.

Under the document, in February and March the trees and bushes will be clipped. In October-April, the bushes will be sanitarily trimmed in parks and forests. At the main entrances to green areas, there will be placed posters with the location of tourist facilities, sanitary units and smoking places and with information about the fines imposed for deviations from the regulations.

The cutting down of trees in areas intended for building will be possible only based on orders by mayor general of Chisinau municipality, authorizations issued by the environmental authorities and as a result of consultations with NGOs. The laying of engineering networks is not allowed. Sector police officers and the municipal authorities will be informed if violations of the regulations are identified.

The goal of the first debate was to familiarize the public with the document. The next debates are to contribute to the improvement of the regulations.
