The Government in its last meeting approved a bill on dwellings that is intended to substitute the code adopted in 1983, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction Anatolie Zolotcov said the economic conditions have changed since the adoption of the old code and the new law takes into consideration these realities. It will serve as a basis for reorganizing and modernizing the area, including as regards the normative framework and state institutions’ competences to regulate and control the system of dwellings.
A separate chapter of the new law focuses on social dwellings. It also contains clear rules regarding the reconstruction and re-planning of apartments in residential buildings and provisions concerning the use of apartments under lease.
Anatolie Zolotcov said that after Parliament passes the given bill, the housing stock managers will be attested and trained. The quality of the services of administering the housing stock and the public utilities is to be improved.
