Registry Service created in Moldova

The Registry Service subordinated to the Ministry of Information Development was set up instead of the General Civil Status Division, Info-Prim Neo reports. A relevant Government decision and the regulations concerning the Registry Service had been published in the last number of the Official Gazette of Moldova, cited by Info-Prim Neo. Under the regulations, the Registry Service is a public institution with the status of legal entity that deals with the registration of civil status documents. The Service is autonomous, has treasury accounts, stamp with Moldova’s symbols, official names as well as office in the municipality of Chisinau. The Service is composed of the apparatus and registry offices. According to the regulations, registry offices can be created in municipalities, if need be, to register the marriages and births. The territorial registry offices do not hold the status of legal entity. The Service’s structure and size of personnel will be approved by the Minister of Information Development on the proposal of the director general of the Service within the limits of the personnel size. The activity of the Service is financed from the state budget and the special funds collected from providing services for payment.
