The registration procedure for small producers and tourist guesthouses will be simplified under a bill approved by Parliament in the first reading. The document aims to optimize the list of food safety authorizations and simplify food certification process, as well as increase the supervision of the foodservice industry.
In particular, the bill proposes abolishing the harmlessness certificate (for export or re-export) for food products, including packaged ones; simplifying the procedure for issuing the sanitary-veterinary authorization for vehicles; reducing the frequency of sampling adapted to the specifics and size of the business, provided that the safety of food products is not compromised, among other measures.
The measures also aim to improve the hygiene requirements for equipment, vehicles or containers used for harvesting, transporting or storing primary food products. Mandatory sanitary-veterinary authorization of halls and stalls for the sale of food products of animal origin is proposed. Also, new regulations are provided regarding the withdrawal or recall of non-compliant or unsafe food products placed on the market.
