Teleradio-Moldova invites singers and bands to register for the national stage to choose Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place in the Swiss city of Basel. The deadline for submissions is December 27, 05:00 p.m., IPN reports.
The files will be examined by the national stage organizational committee by January 15, 2025. The songs must be original, not have been released before September 1, 2024, and the duration must not exceed 3 minutes.
The contestants whose files meet all the requirements will participate in the live auditions between January 15 and February 5. The finalists will be selected by a specialized jury, which will award a score of 0 to 12, based on the following criteria: melodic line, interpretation, and originality of the song.
The national final, in which the winning song will be chosen, will take place during February 20-28 and will be broadcast live on TV Moldova. The score will be determined based on the jury–televote 50/50 system. If there is a tie in scores, the organizational committee, after consulting the jury, will decide the winner.
Last year, Moldova was represented by Natalia Barbu with the song "In the Middle". The singer ranked 13th in the European semifinal, thus failing to qualify for the final.
The 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place between May 13 and 17. The semifinals will be held on May 13 and 15, and the winning country will be designated on May 17.
