Regional Conference regarding pollution control in the basin of Danube River and Black Sea to take place in Chisinau
Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, with support from the Global Ecologic Fund, the World Bank Office in Moldova, office of the United Nations Program, is organizing during October 3-6 the Regional Conference entitled “Nutrient pollution control in the Danube River basin and the Black Sea”.
This kind of reunion is for the first time organized in the Republic of Moldova. This meeting will be attended by 80 scientists from several countries, including Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Italy, Kenya, Norway, Nigeria, Romania, USA, Turkey, Hungary etc.
The Government of the Republic of Moldova has obtained the support of the Global Ecologic Fund in the financing the Project of agricultural pollution control. The main goals of this project is to reduce the amount of nutrients and other agricultural pollution factors in the Danube River and the Black Sea, by implementing integrated soil and water management techniques.
The project will provide assistance for the Government of the Republic of Moldova in promoting the adoption of farmers associations with legal status, familial associations and by individual farmers of agricultural methods that do not harm the environment; will see to the consolidation of the national policy, of legislative and institutional capacities, that would provide control over nutrients pollution; will develop a campaign and a replication strategy of the project in other areas from the Republic of Moldova and the region.
