A region in Botanica district from the capital remained without power on Thursday October 26 for about 8 hours, due to a damage caused at an electric transformer of 6 kV tension. According to the sources from the Emergency Situations Department, the damage occurred at 8.49 am, on the territory of the power distribution point on Grenoble 106 street, which is in the property of Union Fenosa Group. The accident caused a fire, as a result of which 7 dwelling blocks, 1 administrative block, 20 private houses and 5 trade facilities remained without power. The fire was put out by a 10-fireman-brigade and 2 fire engines. Two fire-brigades of the electric networks were involved for removing the consequences of the damage as well. The region’s power supply was reestablished on the next day by 2.50 am. An inquiry is underway to establish the causes of the fire and the caused material damage. Also on October 26, according to the same source, at 11.46 pm, a fire was intentionally set to an “Opel Cadet” automobile on a street of Comrat municipality, ATU Gagauz-Yeri. Previously the car was hijacked. 1960 fires that caused the death of 181 persons, including 11 children, have been reported in Moldova from the beginning of the year.
