Employers who will refuse to sign work contracts with persons with disabilities, who have recommendations from the competent institutions, will be fined. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the first reading on June 26, IPN reports
The bill was drafted by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, which proposed that the fine should be 6,000 to 7,000 lei. The legal entity that will refuse to distribute the vacancies or to create workplaces for persons who partially lost the capacity to work as a result of an accident at the given company will be also fined, 8,000 to 10,000 lei.
The employers who will not inform the local employment office about the jobs reserved for persons with disabilities will be fined 6,000 to 7,000 lei.
The children who came of age and are able to work and do not fulfill their obligations to look after the parents with disabilities will be fined 2,000 to 3,000 lei.
Deputy Minister of Labor Gheorghe Turcanu said the bill was drafted with the aim of adjusting the legislation to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The MPs also adopted amendments to the Broadcasting Code, instituting penalties for the non-ensuring of hearing-impaired people’s access to televised programs of major importance by providing sign-language translation at the broadcaster’s expense, for at least 20 minutes of the daily broadcast time.
